Joe is the Head PGA Professional and Academy Manager at the UK Headquarters of the Leadbetter Academy at Leeds Golf Centre in North Leeds, UK. He coaches players of all abilities, from beginners to Tour Professionals; plans and coordinates all academy activity and trains and educates PGA Trainee professionals and Leadbetter Trainees.
As a Young Professional
Joe started his PGA training in 2008, graduating in 2011 as the North Region Trainee of the year. Joe then spent 3 years as a tour professional, competing on the PGA Europro Tour, The Alps Tour and the Asian Tour. During this time Joe amassed 12 professional victories and several course records, all despite a persistent back injury. In 2014 Joe called time on his playing career due to injury, and decided to pursue his career in coaching, and took up his initial role with The Leadbetter Academy at Leeds Golf Centre, where he has progressed into his current role.
As a Junior
Joe took up the game aged 10, he would go to the local sports field and hit balls around to start with, and then started playing the municipal courses around Leeds with his dad. He was immediately hooked, and joined Leeds Golf Centre as a Junior Member aged 11. By 14 years old he had got his handicap down to 4 and was representing Leeds and District Juniors. He spent the next few years progressing through the Leeds and Yorkshire Squads, playing in national amateur events before turning professional aged 20.
Away From Golf
Joe is a keen musician and has been since before golf was even on the radar. He has played in several bands and writes, records and performs live when he gets chance. He loves all sports and supports Leeds Rhinos and Leeds United.
